La Joya Coyotes Softball grabbed an early lead on its way to a 15-3 victory over Raymondville on Saturday. La Joya Coyotes Softball scored on a single by Jessica Reyna, a single by Harley Cerda, and a fielder’s choice by Laila Vega in the first inning.
La Joya Coyotes Softball secured the victory thanks to eight runs in the second inning. The rally was led by doubles by Reyna and Leezandra Prado, a single by Miranda Flores, and an error on a ball put in play by Vega.
After Raymondville scored one run in the top of the fourth, La Joya Coyotes Softball answered with one of their own. Raymondville scored when #6 grounded out, scoring one run. La Joya Coyotes Softball then answered when Victoria Ledesma singled on a 3-1 count, scoring one run.
La Joya Coyotes Softball scored eight runs in the second inning. The offensive onslaught by La Joya Coyotes Softball was led by Reyna, Vega, Prado, and Flores, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.
Nallely Hernandez earned the victory in the circle for La Joya Coyotes Softball. She lasted five innings, allowing three hits and three runs while striking out four.
Danea Hernandez took the loss for Raymondville. She went three innings, allowing 13 runs on 11 hits.
La Joya Coyotes Softball racked up 14 hits. Reyna, Flores, and Stefanie Solis all had multiple hits for La Joya Coyotes Softball. Reyna led La Joya Coyotes Softball with three hits in four at bats.
Jolie Dominguez went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Raymondville in hits.
