La Joya Coyotes Softball watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 14-3 loss to Pharr-San Juan-Alamo on Tuesday. Pharr-San Juan-Alamo took the lead on a home run in the first inning.
The La Joya Coyotes Softball struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Pharr-San Juan-Alamo, giving up 14 runs.
In the first inning, Pharr-San Juan-Alamo got their offense started when Ariella Saenz homered on a 1-2 count, scoring three runs.
Pharr-San Juan-Alamo scored seven runs in the fifth inning. Roxanna Garza, Catherine Padilla, Korrie Cantu, Madison Anne lopez, and Kayla Hernandez all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.
Saenz led the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo to victory in the circle. She went five innings, allowing three runs on five hits and striking out one.
Nallely Hernandez took the loss for La Joya Coyotes Softball. She allowed three hits and six runs over one and two-thirds innings.
Leezandra Prado led La Joya Coyotes Softball with two hits in two at bats.
Pharr-San Juan-Alamo tallied 11 hits on the day. Hernandez and Saenz each racked up multiple hits for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo. Hernandez went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Pharr-San Juan-Alamo in hits.
